Telenomus is the largest genus in Scelionidae, with over 600 described species. Telenomus species attack the eggs of multiple insect orders, including Hemiptera, with some lineages specializing on the eggs of true bugs (Heteroptera). Species in the podisi group parasitize the eggs of stink bugs (Pentatomoidea). The Nearctic fauna was revised by Johnson (1984) but received little further attention until BMSB emerged as a global pest. Preliminary data indicates that the podisi group contains an incredible number of undescribed species and that molecular analyses are a critical component of species delimitation. Recent advances and priorities for future research will be discussed.
