Sharing my methods: Creating datasets using entomological museum specimens

I am a master’s student in the DeWalt lab at the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign. This year, I published a dataset with a supporting data paper using entomological museum specimens in order to create a preliminary species checklist for my thesis work. In this talk, I will share how the dataset came to be, and all the hurdles I ran into while completing this objective. This will offer a student perspective to learning new skills in data standards and management, and I will share my future plans for updating my methods as I continue my thesis work.
