A challenge in understanding contemporary biodiversity change is finding appropriate historical baselines. Leveraging historical data gives perspective beyond one person's work-- but sometimes requires a creative approach to unlock the information in these heterogeneous records. This symposium will discuss finding historical data opportunities and developing methods to integrate these perspectives.
