In the laboratory, just like in the insect ecosystems we study, diversity is not a challenge—it's a strength. Each learner arrives with their own set of skills, perspectives, and access needs, and it’s our job to create a habitat where all can thrive. Drawing from experiences in both formal classrooms and informal outreach, I’ll share inclusive and flexible strategies for teaching wet lab skills to learners of all experience levels, with an emphasis on accessibility, engagement, and confidence-building. From scaffolded protocols to mindset shifts, I’ll explore how to make every “bug” in the learning process a teachable feature—not a flaw.
