BugBox: A platform for AI-based arthropod biodiversity research

Ecdysis Foundation has developed BugBox, a web platform for using AI to conduct arthropod biodiversity surveys. BugBox manages experiment designs, classifies arthropods to morphospecies, and exports organized spreadsheets with count data and calculated biodiversity indices. It also allows credentialed users to correct misidentifications and to share images for future model training. BugBox is now available for other scientists to use freely, and it is an excellent way to introduce new students to biodiversity analyses and artificial intelligence. We invite other scientists to begin using BugBox for their own projects.
