Environmental Entomology is one of 9 ESA journals and publishes research on the interactions of insects with the biological, chemical, and physical aspects of their environment. Over the years the journal has maintained high rankings in the top 22% of insect science and top 33% of ecology journals with about 200 papers submitted per year and an impact factor around 2.0. Papers are submitted from around the world with about half from North America and many from South America, Europe, Asia, and many other countries. The journal covers a range of environmental topics with recent special collections on spotted lanternfly and arthropod pests of hemp and upcoming special collections on Asian longhorned beetle and on plant volatiles in insect pest management and sustainable agriculture. In 2020, the journal implemented 2 award categories to recognize outstanding papers published in the past 2 years including high impact papers nominated by the Subject Editors and voted on by journal reviewers (Reviewers’ Choice) and papers with high altmetric, download, and citation scores voted on by all journal subscribers (People’s Choice). Highlights of research published in 2024 and of award recipient papers will be presented.
